Impending extinction comes to a tipping point for one of the world’s most iconic species – the Southern Resident killer whales. For two filmmakers, this crisis sparks a stunning journey across the Pacific Northwest, joining activists, scientists, and Indigenous leaders, to uncover corruption and stop injustice before it’s too late.Â

The filmmakers take a deep dive into the causes behind the decline of the Southern Resident orcas, from the environmental factors to the driving forces behind the threats to these beloved whales and the connection with the systemic issues of colonization and industrialization. Coextinction is about connection: between the whales, their ecosystem, and ourselves, and embracing that connection to ensure the survival of the Southern Residents and their home.
